WTF Vancouver, 12 Halloween Date Ideas For The Indecisive Monster in You

WTF Vancouver, 12 Halloween Date Ideas For The Indecisive Monster in You

You know what’s tricky about wooing your boo this Halloween season?

Well one, people don’t usually equate spooky season with romance.

And two, deciding what to do on your date is a job of work!

Maybe it's the overwhelming number of choices in Vancouver that gives you analysis paralysis. Maybe you want your date to think you’re chill, cool, and down with whatever.

Whatever your reason, here’s a PSA from your couch: start physically-distancing yourselves from it and get closer to your hunny with a dose of Halloween date ideas!

1. Indulge in Halloween Desserts

One of the sweetest parts of Halloween is the limited edition desserts!

Visit Beta5 Chocolates for this Monster Squad scream puff trio, Breka for a 24 hour indulgence, or discover a new dessert hangout this spooky szn!

2. Decorate Haunted Cookie Houses!

Hey, you don’t have to wait until Christmas to decorate cookie houses!

Buy a few Haunted House cookie kits, couple up in teams, and put on a Halloween playlist while you liberally apply icing & sugary confections!

Our kit came with Halloween sprinkles, but you can add melted marshmallows for cobwebs, candy corn, or all the Halloween candies you have on hand.

3. Let Imaginations Run Wild With a Spooky Craftivity

Even if your corporate workplace has tried to stamp out your love for creative costumes, you can still innovate and craft the night away with your hunny.

Dollar stores are great places to pick up easy, Halloween craft kits with your date if you want a project you can both finish in one night.

After you’re done, proudly display your creations!

4. Leave Vancouver

Well, maybe not forever…

While the city is always alive with cool things to do, its astronomically high land prices mean you’ll have to drive out if you want to go to a pumpkin patch or corn maze.

And what’s better than an adventure with your sweetie? Sip on hot apple cider, eat mini donuts, see the barn animals, and aimlessly wander the fields of apples, lavender, corn, and pumpkin.

5. Pumpkin Painting/ Drawing

Skip the ghostery store, and head to the pumpkin patch if you want to find variations of orange, red, green, and white pumpkins.

Then you can spend the night whittling away at your pumpkin or do what I did and draw on it. Painting on lighter-coloured pumpkins will add a bold and colourful twist to a traditional Halloween favourite.

For something a bit extra, add loose glitter while the paint is still wet!

6. Share A Secret, Scary Book Club

Forget the the steamy reading. Get into the Halloween spirit and start a scary book club for two.

You can take turns reading to each other too, at your book club meet-up!

Hellbound Heart, a horror novella by Clive Barker, is a fast read that explores what happens when a man’s obsession with hedonistic, sensual experiences goes too far.

If you want straight up nightmares, The Troop by Nick Cutter will undoubtedly give you that.

7. Halloween-theme Breakfast Date

You can’t date all day if you don’t start in the morning…

If you’re a morning person, you’ll love waking up to see your favourite person and your caffeinated beverage of choice. Is there a better morning combo?!

Take in the latte foam, funky-shaped eggs (anything from cat-shaped fried eggs to stars and more), and Halloween-themed waffles over sunshine and conversation.

8. Swap Homes With A Friend

Miss being on vacation as a couple? Maybe your friend feels the same way!

Coordinate a home swap with a friend and take your staycation to the next level.

For a special touch, treat your friend to a basket of snacks and toiletries to channel the forgotten magic of hotel living.

9. Watch a Scary Movie On Your Patio

You’re always a short walk to the “concession stand snacks”, when you’re watching a movie on your own patio!

Imagine fairy lights, ghastly jack-o-lanterns, a cozy fleece throw, and the glowing moon as your movie-night backdrop.

The only thing left to do is decide on a horror movie to watch together!

10. Lights Out PJ Party

Just don’t watch Lights Out (2016) or a horror movie beforehand or you’ll never want to have a “power outage date”…

Pretend the power is out, put those phones away, and be present with your date! Have a romantic dinner by candlelight, create a few haunting masterpieces on your retro Lite-Brite, tell a few ghost stories, and snuggle up in your onesie costumes.

11. Throw a Dinner Party

Food just pulls on all the right heartstrings!

Unless your memory was of some adult taking food like peeled grapes and cold noodles, asking you to feel them in the dark, and telling you you just had the great pleasure of touching eyeballs and intestines.

Haha, yuck.

You could continue this kiddish tradition or why not host a Halloween dinner party and invite your friends over. Go all out on the spooky decor and table setting. It’s just the right thing to do.

12. Gotta Catch ‘Em All - Halloween Pokemon!

Pokemon Go is no stranger to Halloween, celebrating every season with ghost-type Pokemon, creepy new Pokemon releases, and double the catch-candy. Download this free app for an easy motivator to get in those after-dinner steps.

Remember, a couple that Pokemons together, stays together (WTF Hubby tells me this all the time).

Put these Halloween date ideas to use, or combine them to create something that makes your boo’s heart flutter. Before you go on your date, leave a comment with your go-to date idea. I would love to hear from you.

Stay safe and have fun, you boo-tiful people!
